Boy Calls 911 to Ask For

Posted on August 8, 2025 by ShakeelAhmed

An 8-year-old boy, Ryan Crosby, called 911 for help with his math homework, but the call revealed a bigger issue. Alone at home, Ryan explained his mother, Matilda, wasn’t there. The 911 operator, initially skeptical, traced his address, and police rushed to his house, finding him alone at 10 p.m. Unable to contact Matilda, whose phone was off, officers grew concerned. They located her last phone signal at an old mill outside town. With a K9 unit’s help, they found Matilda unconscious in her car on a deserted road. She had fainted from heat exhaustion while

driving and remained unconscious all day. An open window likely saved her life. After being rushed to the hospital, Matilda recovered and reunited with Ryan, who was overjoyed. The incident began with Ryan’s innocent 911 call but led to his mother’s rescue. Matilda had taught Ryan to call 911 in emergencies, a lesson that proved lifesaving. This story highlights the importance of teaching children to use 911 and listening carefully to their calls, as they may reveal critical situations.
